WHAT’S HAPPENING AT FIRST PREZ — upcoming gatherings

PRACTICING THE WAY

Following Jesus has long been likened to a spiritual journey. We hope to get you started on this journey of spiritual formation through the PRACTICING THE WAY Course. Sept 15-Nov 3 (updated dates), Sundays, 9:30AM-11AM, FPC Mauka Room. Sept 22-Nov 10, Sundays, 11:30AM to 1:00PM. The goal is to learn to live as an apprentice of Jesus – to be with Jesus, become like him, and do as he did. Class fee: $10. Register here. Facilitators: Pastor Tim Shaw and Kathy Queen

PARENTING CHILDREN COURSE

We’re offering a parenting course for parents, step-parents, and others who are caring for babies and kids up to 10 years old. Sept 8 to Nov 24, Sun, 8AM, FPC Glass Classroom. It’s a course with videos produced by Alpha, with Sam and Karen Lee as facilitators. The Course is based on biblical principles but designed for all couples with or without a church background. Childcare available. Register here.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN AGAIN

We have rescheduled the Church Family Camp for the weekend of Sept 13-15. There’s still room for campers, so consider joining us. The Church Family Camp is for everyone of all ages – keiki to senior adults. Register here for the Day Camp or the Overnight Camp.

EXTEND THE REACH OF OUR MINISTRIES

You can extend the reach of our church's ministries by donating a gift to First Prez through Give Aloha, Foodland's matching-gifts program for all of September. Stop by one of their stores, and use code 77299 to make a donation at the cashier. You can also do it online. See the rest of the how-to's here.

CURRENT SERMON SERIES

We’re on the sermon series called TRUST, which is still based on Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. TRUST will challenge us to look at what we're placing our confidence in. The TRUST sermon series booklet is available at the Sanctuary welcome table. It will help you go deeper into the lessons. You can also download it here.

DIFFERENCE COURSE

We believe that God actively restores brokenness and transforms relationships. Through the Difference course, find out how you can join Him in that work as you learn what it means to follow Jesus even in the midst of conflict. Difference is open to everyone. Sept 25-Oct 23, Wed, 7PM, at The Vine. Register here by Sept 25. No walk-ins please.

HOPE CENTER MINISTRIES GRADUATION & RECEPTION

Two residents of Hope Center Ministries, Kailua will be graduating from their year-long, God-centered program of recovery, and you’re invited! Sept 15, Sun, 11:30AM, FPC Grand Ballroom. A small reception lunch in the Fellowship Hall follows the ceremony. Join us in celebrating what the Lord has done in the graduates’ lives.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS

The most important thing about you is what comes to your mind when you think about God. The second most important thing is what comes to your mind when you think about yourself. The two feed each other. Pastor Timmy Fearer will spend four weeks with us and talk about this in a course called THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS. Wednesdays (until Sept 11), 7PM, at The Vine. Learn more about it here.

FOR MOMS WITH YOUNG KIDS

Our Mighty Moms fellowship group is studying a video series called "Gather Moms: Family Values." These are short videos about day-to-day mom struggles and how to apply biblical guidance in the midst of chaos. The result? More joy, contentment, and closeness with Jesus. All moms with young kids are welcome. Free childcare provided. Wednesdays, 9:30AM, Middle School Room at the FPC campus.

TURKEYS-TO-GO

Now’s a great time to plan for your Thanksgiving meal with family! Ko'olau Ballrooms (KB) has a Thanksgiving feast that's good for 8 to 10 people. See the menu here. Call KB today at 808-957-7000 to order and pay, and pick up on Nov 28, Thanksgiving Day. Best to order early before they sell out.

HOW CAN WE PRAY FOR YOU?

If you're at a crossroads, or are dealing with a disease, or perhaps circumstances are making you anxious, we can help through the power of prayer. Send your email request to prayer@fpchawaii.org.

WAYS TO SERVE

God created you with a purpose and has given you skills, talents, and gifting in various areas of your life. How will you use them to serve the Lord and make people see how essential and relevant He is to our lives? When you serve with First Prez, you get to help create a welcoming and worshipful environment for people who want to seek God and know more about Him. Find a spot to serve.
